ELVIO COGNO BAROLO 2013

The old vintages of Marcarini, made by Elvio Cogno in his youth are treasures (and still relatively inexpensive.)  Elvio has continued and maintained his legacy at the family estate that sits above the magnificent Ravera vineyard. 
 
For some reason, these elegant and harmonious wines fly under the radar of many collectors.  Ravera is up and away towards Novello, and is not bottled by many as a cru, but Cogno has a few illustrious neighbors in Ravera whose wines show the vineyard’s true class: Giuseppe Rinaldi, Vietti, and Vajra all make superb wines in whole or in part from the cru. 
 
The wines, now made by Nadia Cogno and Walter Fissore hold their own against any of their neighbors; we cannot recommend them highly enough.
