91 points View From the Cellar: “While the 1971 Barbaresco is a bit of a question mark from Borgogno, the ’71 Barolo is really quite good. The nose is deep and complex, offering up tertiary notes of red cherries, strawberries, dried rose petals, licorice, tar and forest floor. On the palate the wine is fullish, complex and well-balanced, with good depth at the core, and good length and tang on the complex finish. This is just a bit old-fashioned stylistically, but is a fine example of the genre.”
