OGIER COTE ROTIE RESERVE 2014

Offered APR 12th, 2017

“Over the last decade or so, Stephane Ogier has raised the bar in just about every way possible for his estate in Côte Rôtie: purchasing new vineyards, replanting existing sites, working hard to develop an AOC for Seyssuel and building a completely new cellar—all the while continuing to produce a bevy of brilliant wines. Today, the estate is unquestionably in the top handful of domaines in the Rhône Valley.” – Jeb Dunnuck

93 points Wine Advocate: “There are under 200 cases of the 2014 Côte Rôtie Reserve, which got all the grapes that would normally go into the Lancement and Belle Helene cuvées. Its deep ruby color is followed by a layered, complex, medium-bodied and nicely concentrated red that has terrific notes of dried flowers, blackcurrants, blackberries, black olives and Asian spices. Its tannin quality it first rate, and this classic 2014 has both elegance and richness. Drink it anytime over the coming decade or more.”

(92-94) points Vinous: “Dark purple. Potent smoke- and mineral-accented aromas of dark berry preserves, cherry liqueur and pungent flowers take on a hint of peppery spices. Spicy and taut on entry, then round and vibrant in the mid-palate, offering concentrated black raspberry, cola and violet pastille flavors given lift and spine by juicy acidity. Finishes bright, minerally and very long, displaying harmonious tannins and resonating floral and dark berry notes.”
