RAMONET 2014
Offered FEB 15th, 2017 – subject to availability / remaining unsold.
“2014 White Burgundy is the best vintage in twenty years.”
– Etienne de Montille
We have a small allocation of the 2014 whites from Domaine Ramonet at very good prices, and some back-vintages as well. Quantities are limited.
Domaine Ramonet has returned to their magnificent best and has lead the resurgence from the age of ‘pre-mox.’ Ramonet’s 14s will be among the benchmarks of a new golden age for white burgundy.
“If there is a domaine in Chassagne that can challenge Puligny’s Domaine Leflaive for the overall consistency and excellence of their white wines, it is Domaine Ramonet”
– Remington Norman, The Great Domaines of Burgundy
Along with Roulot, Louis Carillon, Leflaive and Bonneau du Martray, Ramonet was one of the few domaines that was recently elevated to the rank of 3 stars by renowned critic Clive Coates in his latest book on Burgundy – joining DRC, Lafon, Vogue, Rousseau and Leroy.
Ramonet is the most foremost property in Chassagne Montrachet, producing marvelous wines at all levels, from villages through to the most important grand crus. Established in the late 1920s by Pierre Ramonet, and then succeeded by his son Andre, who began to bottle more wine and brought the estate to prominence with ever more magnificent wines in the 1980s. The domaine is now run by Noel Ramonet and his brother Jean-Claude, who farm just over 17 hectares of vines.

94 points Burghound: “In much the same fashion as the Champs Canet, generous but not dominating wood slowly fades into the background with air to allow the honeysuckle, citrus and ripe pear scents to take center stage. There is good volume and verve to the attractively, even seductively textured medium weight flavors that possess really lovely intensity along with fine acid support on the strikingly persistent finish. In the classic mode of a fine Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet this isn’t particularly powerful or concentrated but rather it is a wine of harmony and grace albeit one with terrific potential.”
Ramonet Montrachet 2011
$1,350 per bottle
97 points Burghound: “The strikingly complex, cool and reserved nose of mostly citrus, stone, floral and white orchard fruit aromas still displays plenty of wood that has not yet been integrated but the density is certainly here to allow that to happen even though it may require 3 to 5 years to do so. In the context of the 2011 vintage this is a superbly well-concentrated wine as the imposingly scaled flavors are a breathtaking combination of size, weight, tension and borderline painful intensity. Despite all of the volume, there is absolutely no heaviness, indeed the acid support is such that this remains impeccably well-balanced on the hugely long and palate staining finish. While it is of course still in the early days for the vintage this is absolutely a strong candidate for the wine of the vintage.”
