There is excellent volume but also very good detail to the muscular and big-bodied flavors that possess fine intensity before terminating in a full-on, frank and impressively long finish. This won’t win any awards for elegance but it’s a classic Bougros of muscle and punch.”

94 points Burghound: “Soft but not invisible wood sets off a ripe mix of mineral reduction, white and yellow orchard fruit, seaweed and tidal pool nuances. There is exceptionally good richness to the generously proportioned and impressively well-concentrated flavors that coat the palate on the imposingly scaled finish where the wood telegraphed by the nose resurfaces. Note that this will need time to develop but it should be terrific in time.”

92 points Burghound: “This is also notably ripe and flirts with being slightly tropical in character with its wide-ranging notes of dried apricot, tangerine peel and white peach. There is a hint of wood on the voluminous and moderately concentrated medium-bodied flavors that deliver fine length on the lightly mineral-inflected finish. This excellent effort offers a bit more depth than the Montée de Tonnerre and should improve over the next 5 to 7 years.”

92 points Burghound: “If this is not more aromatically refined than the Vaulorent then it’s close to it with broad ranging scents of citrus, white flowers, mineral reduction and algae nuances though here too there is some post-bottling SO2. The round, delicious and concentrated flavors are an exercise in controlled power as there is outstanding persistence to the mouth coating finish that delivers very solid depth. Impressive.”

Here too there is a refined mouth feel to the delicious and attractively textured flavors that are at once generous yet reasonably precise, all wrapped in a mildly austere if persistent finish that isn’t quite as complex as that of the Vaulorent plus the wood needs to more completely integrate.”
