BOSQUET DES PAPES 2015

Offered JUL 23rd, 2017

“Nicolas Boiron continues to make a bevy of seriously good Châteauneuf du Papes that span a range of styles. The two most classically styled cuvées are the base Châteauneuf du Pape and the Châteauneuf du Pape Chante le Merle Vieilles, with the Châteauneuf du Pape A La Gloire Mon Grand-Pere and the Châteauneuf du Pape La Folie both stressing fruit and texture, with the La Folie even showing a touch of barrique. Regardless of the style, these are beautiful wines that readers should have in the cellar.” – Jeb Dunnuck, Wine Advocate

(94-96) points Wine Advocate: “The blockbuster styled 2015 Châteauneuf du Pape A La Gloire de Mon Grand-Père (98% Grenache and 2% Cinsault) put a smile on my face and offers full-bodied, layered, decadent notes of kirsch, blackberries, dried stones/earth and lavender. It’s a big wine, yet stays balanced, silky and even elegant on the palate, with notable tannic grip. It will keep for 15+ years.”

(93-95) points Wine Advocate: “The old vine cuvée is the 2015 Châteauneuf du Pape Chante Le Merle Vieilles Vignes and is a non-destemmed blend of 90% Grenache and 5% each of Syrah and Mourvèdre. Aged in foudre and demi-muids, it offers textbook notes of black raspberries, kirsch, garrigue, pepper and leafy herbs, as well as full-bodied richness, ripe, polished tannin and a great finish. I’ve found this cuvée to be a touch rustic in the past, but recent vintages show another level of purity, elegance and finesse.”
