ALDO CONTERNO 2013

Offered MAY 12th, 2017

Aldo Conterno, a legend in his own lifetime, has forged a reputation as one of Barolo’s very finest producers. Initially he worked alongside his brother Giovanni Conterno before he set up on his own in 1969. Today he is ably assisted by his sons Stefano, Franco and Giacomo. Conterno`s vineyards are located in the hills of Bussia in the Monteforte district of Barolo. He is most renowned for his single vineyard Barolos which are amongst the finest expressions in the region.

Though Aldo’s style of winemaking is by no means modern, a comparison to his brother’s wines illustrate the direction in which Barolo is progressing. Aldo Conterno has a rare and elusive ability to strike a balance between traditional and modern orientations, applying technology in a manner that supports the retention of Nebbiolo’s character while crafting wine with a broader appeal.

Full and tight with a solid core of fruit. Polished tannins to the maximum.”
